Since the COVID-19 lockdown period began, we’ve been developing ways in which we can help others in the industry during this difficult time. Director Alex Hurn wondered if extending a helping hand to those training to become chartered MRICS surveyors would be a good way of giving something back.
APC students may be finding it harder to study and access the guidance they need at this time without the ability to go to tutorials or meet up with their peer groups. The APC is the assessment of professional competence, which is the training scheme that graduates need to complete on the job to qualify as a chartered surveyor.
Students who choose to take up Sillence Hurn’s offer will gain assistance in any areas they need it, with this support coming from a team of extremely experienced and established surveyors, who operate successfully in the industry and have a great deal of knowledge to share.
Alex is offering his support with 20-30 minute ‘virtual’ meetings in the form of video calls. He will offer guidance to trainees to help them with their studies and also provide advice on careers and industry opportunities.
Alex said: “This is a challenging time for everyone, but it must be particularly tough for those mid-way through their training who may have found themselves grinding to a halt amidst the restrictions. We want to help in any way we can, stoke their enthusiasm and encourage them on into the field. If a little support from us can help facilitate that, we’d be thrilled.”
The initial chat will be a chance for us to get to know a bit about you, your goals and what you’re looking to achieve. You will be able to outline the areas you’d like help with and together we will devise a plan to provide the required support.
