More than a hundred property and construction professionals turned out for South Coast Property’s second annual Sailing Regatta last week, sponsored by Gracelands Ground Works and Civil Engineering, Connect It Utility Services, and MSP Capital.
A first for Sillence Hurn, they were joined by Will Robinson, Managing Director of Brentor Property, and Brain and Loretto Linehan – both Directors from Belvoir! - teaming up with Dutton Gregory Solicitors and their five-man crew to make a strong team of ten.
Starting the day with breakfast and a safety meeting, the crews soon found themselves battling the elements on an abnormally chilly May day.
Twelve yachts carrying groups of up to ten, accompanied by a professional Skipper each, set sail from Hamble Marina in Southampton. High tides and choppy seas wouldn’t stop everyone from enjoying the event though, as the teams went head-to-head on the Solent.
Sillence Hurn scooped Third place, a fantastic win for their first time competing in the event, with Connect It finished in Second place and Gracelands came out on top.
Luke Masters had fun representing Sillence Hurn at the event; “Apparently choppy weather is perfect for this kind of competition and although a little wet, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was exhilarating!”
Lisa Ashton agreed and was proud of the team securing Third place; “As it was our first time taking part, we’re absolutely thrilled to have come Third! Watch out Gracelands, as we’ll be going for gold next time”.
For the last two years, the South Coast Property Sailing Regatta has brought together individuals from the property and construction industry to network and compete in the fun sailing competition out on the Solent.
The unique event provides great opportunities for team building and getting outdoors, whether you’re a novice or an experienced sailor.
