Matthew attended Kingston University and gained a distinction in his Masters Degree in Real Estate and Surveying. He then spent some time working in South-West London assisting a surveyor on surveys and party wall work.
Following that, Matthew moved to Hampshire and spent time training, eventually qualifying on his first time for RICS AssocRICS accreditation in January 2022. He has since worked in Surrey and Hampshire for the last few years helping private and institutional clients on a range of residential valuation and surveying services.
Proudest project?
Last year I undertook a pre-purchase survey for a disabled client who was very concerned about a potential house purchase. I took the time to discuss all the damp and mould related issues in the property, as she was extremely concerned following my support.
By spending a little bit of extra time to explain the house, its alterations and its overall performance, she ultimately decided not to go ahead. I was delighted when she returned for another survey later on and gave feedback on how impressed she was last time. It’s very rewarding to be able to help people on what is a very important decision.

How do you switch off?
I have started enjoying running, so a quick jog outside or on the treadmill is the best way I switch off during the week. Over the weekend, I spend a lot of time playing modern hobby board games with friends, family and local gaming groups.
Biggest career influence?
My first boss, Mark. When I had a holiday job, he was the best influence I had. He was a stickler for time keeping and professionalism, but he taught me that respect goes both ways and that you do have to earn it.
Favourite book, film, or TV show?
I’m a big fan of the Dune franchise by Frank Herbert but the series does get a little strange as it goes on! The recent films are fantastic too and a good introduction for anyone wanting to explore this epic Sci-fi adventure.
Fun fact about you?
I was once a qualified sailing instructor but haven’t stepped on a boat for over 10 years!
