Accreditations

I am hoping to undertake CIPD level 7 this year and finally get around to doing a Project Management qualification.

Biggest career influence?

The last few years working as a contractor have been the most educational and beneficial experience I have had in Recruitment. Having to go in and fix problems for companies, sort out teams and re-construct recruitment functions from scratch has given me an appreciation of how difficult recruitment can be to get right and be done well.

There isn’t much I don’t know about recruitment and not much surprises me anymore, and my favourite quote in recruitment is; “If you think it’s expensive to hire a professional, wait until you hire an amateur.”

Favourite film or book?

The best book I have read is Dune (the entire series of books are fantastic) and my favourite film is the original Planet of the Apes from 1968.

How do you switch off?

I like to switch off by gaming on my PC, playing X-Box with my stepdaughter, taking on woodwork projects (I built our Kitchen table, bookcase, my computer desk and our garden furniture), and going out on my Motor Bike.

Fun fact about you?

I have completed two skydives with my stepdaughter (10,000 and 15,000 ft) and back in 2013 I rowed across the channel for charity. This took 8 hours and was the most horrendous experience of my life!
