David Sillence

Building Surveyor

David brings 30 years of industry-related experience to Sillence Hurn.

David started out as an Architectural Technician. Thereafter he followed a building surveying route, which saw him obtain a Diploma in Surveying from the College of Estate Management in Reading.

David’s experience covers a broad range of disciplines, with his main experience lying in dilapidations, party wall matters and contract administration. His employment prior to forming Sillence Hurn was at a building consultancy firm in the New Forest.

David takes a pragmatic approach to all matters with the sole aim of benefiting his clients. In many cases David says it's his understanding, empathy and skills in negotiation for all parties that help him provide the best consultancy and advice for his clients.

Outside of work, David is an avid sports fan with football his particular passion. Alongside attempting to still play despite his advancing years and avidly watching his young son at weekends from the sidelines, he is keen supporter of Southampton FC (for his sins!). David also likes to play golf when time permits but readily concedes that Alex is by far the more accomplished player. Other activities he particularly enjoys are cycling in the New Forest where he lives, walks along the coast, snowboarding in Europe in the winter and lazy beach holidays in the summer.

"My 30 years' experience have allowed me to hone my skills in negotiation and dispute resolution - absolutely vital in supporting our clients through some of their more challenging projects."
